I just wanted to let you all know that I have finished painting and distressing both shutters and they are looking fabulous in our lounge / dining rooms.
I also wanted to share how I have hung them. Well, you might remember that our car is broken at the moment. Normally I would have gone to the hardware and bought some picture hangers (not cheap either), but with that not possible, I had to think of something else. That’s when I remembered a tip about using metal pull tab rings from the top of cans. Hmmm…. Worth a try. 🙂
So I got 2 tabs of some old cans we had used that day and put a washer over the bottom hold (as it was a bit big) and then screwed the tabs on the back of the shutters. I then bent them out slightly at the top so they could accommodate the nail heads on the wall. I added one to each side to balance the weight of the shutters.
Worked a charm! The shutters are quite heavy, but I’m confident they will hold. Cost me nothing to make and I actually think they look quite neat. I’m sure I’ll be using them again in the future. 🙂
